As a first-class local and global employer, we're going to great lengths to create a culture of mutual respect, recognition and collaboration at Ballydine. A culture, moreover, that promotes the free exchange of information and the chance for our employees to develop their careers and shape their future. In every aspect of our business we drive a sense of inclusion within our employees, our employees feel respected, valued and seen for who they are as individuals. Across the Global organisation, MSD embraces a culture of diversity where courage and candor are rewarded and rapid, disciplined decision making is encouraged.
The Ballydine site is one of a small number of MSD/Merck sites around the world which supports the supply and commercialisation of our medicines. This means that we supply existing API products to market but also are involved in the development and commercialisation of new products from clinical trial stage in the product life cycle through to launch and early supply. This provides a variety of experiences that employees can gain at the site. There is opportunity for employees who show aptitude to take on responsibility at an early stage in their career and due to the cross-functional nature of the business, employees work in multi-disciplinary teams where colleagues help each other to achieve set goals.
Career progression routes exist in both managerial and technical directions. Our training and organisation development provides support to all employees to pursue training relevant to current and aspirational future roles while further education is fully supported.
Employee development is essential to the growth of our business and the success of our site. Employees who are flexible and operate outside narrowly defined roles give our company a competitive advantage through increased productivity. At the same time the company's commitment to lifelong learning helps our people achieve their career goals. We operate a framework in which individuals along with their managers formally review their career development and create targeted plans that meet the needs of the organisation and the individual.
There are a number of flexible work arrangement options which employees can avail of such as flexi-time. There is an active Sports & Social Committee at the plant and we encourage employees to participate in sporting and social activities and provide assistance to the various clubs and societies within the company which are funded by MSD. Some of the clubs include: Cycling, Deep Sea Angling, Golf, GAA, Outdoor Activities Club, Soccer, Snooker, Swimming and Tennis.
Due to its location close to the cross-roads of the south in Cahir, just off the M8, the site finds itself easily commutable from all major cities and most major towns in the south-east. Indeed we are less than an hour from Kilkenny and Waterford. Located on the River Suir and over-looked by the Comeragh Mountains, Clonmel itself has a population of 25,000, with an active & vibrant community while Carrick on Suir is also an up and coming area. For those employees who choose to live in the local area, they can benefit from less expensive rent & house prices than in certain other high density population centres.
The following are typical roles for which we would recruit at the Ballydine site:
