MSD Ireland (Human Health) works with a number of leading organisations committed to improving the lives of patients and working to ensure Europe and Ireland continue to have an environment where medicines are provided to the people who need them and where research, development and manufacturing of medicines continues.

In July 2005, MSD Ireland (Human Health) became the sole sponsor of the MRCG which was launched by An Tanaiste and Minister for Health and Children, Mary Harney T.D. The MRCG is a proactive umbrella group of 16 health related charities working together to promote, support and source funding for medical research by charities in Ireland. These objectives closely mirror those of MSD Ireland (Human Health) to encourage scientific research.

Members of the MRCG include the Irish Cancer Society, Irish Heart Foundation, Arthritis Ireland, Asthma Society of Ireland, Diabetes Federation of Ireland and many more. For further information on the visit www.mrcg.ie

The IPA works with and provides a voice for patients and in 2004 recognised the need for a Charter of Rights and responsibilities for patients in Ireland. MSD Ireland (Human Health) was pleased therefore to provide funding to the IPA to commission a Review from Dublin City University (DCU) schools of Nursing, Law and Government on the ethical, legal and social implications of the European Charter of Patients' Rights in Ireland. The Review was published in 2005 and launched at a conference for key policy makers in The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. The report is available from the IPA. Contact info@irishpatients.ie

MSD Ireland (Human Health) is delighted to support Arthritis Ireland's excellent work. Arthritis Ireland is an invaluable resource for people with arthritis and the organisation provides information on the condition and access to local support networks to people throughout the country. To encourage more people to avail of its services and join the organisation, MSD Ireland (Human Health) partnered with Arthritis Ireland to produce new information about the organisation and membership forms and arranged for distribution to doctors surgeries via the company's national sales force.
