The Irish subsidiary, MSD Ireland (Human Health) Ltd, of Merck & Co., Inc. was established in 2004. Headquartered in Dublin the subsidiary is now Ireland's fastest growing pharmaceutical company and employs over 100 people across it's sales, marketing and medical divisions. In 2008 the company was named one of Ireland's 50 Best Companies to Work For.

The MSD (Ireland) plant based just outside Clonmel in Co. Tipperary, commenced production in 1976. Over 350 people are now employed in the manufacture of bulk active pharmaceutical ingredients and the development of late stage clinical trial material.
