The Employment Experience - Why work at our plant?

Interesting & Enjoyable Work

  • Due to the fact that we now have essentially three businesses at the site i.e. Supply, Commercialisation & the new R&D Formulation and Manufacturing Facility, employees will have the opportunity to work in different areas - manufacturing, R&D, Projects etc.
  • Employees who show an aptitude get to take on responsibility at an early stage in their career.
  • We work in cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams where our colleagues help each other to achieve our goals.
  • Career progression routes exist in both managerial and technical directions. Our training and organisation development section provide support to all employees to pursue training relevant to current and aspirational future roles while we support further education as appropriate.
  • As part of a worldwide corporation there are opportunities to work at other Merck locations around the world.
  • Staff Development

Some of the clubs include: Deep Sea Angling, Golf, GAA, Indoor Soccer, Soccer, Snooker, Swimming and Tennis.

Location

  • Due to its location close to the cross-roads of the south in Cahir, with the Cashel/Mitchelstown route due to open soon, and the new Waterford/Limerick route in the planning stages, the site finds itself easily commutable from all major cities and most major towns in the south-east. Indeed we are less than an hour from Kilkenny and Waterford.
  • Located on the River Suir and over-looked by the Comeragh Mountains, Clonmel itself has a population of 25000, with an active & vibrant community while Carrick on Suir is also an up and coming area. There are a multitude of sports & social activities available. For those employees who choose to live in the local area, they can benefit from less expensive rent & house prices than in certain other high density population centres. There are excellent employment opportunities in the locality due to the high concentration of healthcare companies and other industries.
